Vice President is Sheryl Macdonald who is a NHSA and a CRST (in training).
About Kerry Hutton
Kerry Hutton, an accomplished safety professional with a lifetime of experience in designing and implementing workplace safety programs. He is the owner and president of KJH Safety Consulting & Training Ltd..
Kerry started the company in 2022 and holds an NCSO designation of construction and has studied various other industry safety elements such as Transportation and Safety Management. Kerry possesses excellent communication and attention to detail and skills that can troubleshoot problems with an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of safety management.
Kerrys goal with KJH Safety Consulting & Training Ltd. is to help organizations develop and adhere to safety standards in hopes to guard employees and society against hazards and harm. Kerry has successfully created safety cultures that thrive in various companies throughout Alberta and British Columbia. He has also lowered WCB rates by creating well rounded training programs that are "boots to the ground" understandable for all levels of the organization.
Background On Kerry
Kerry was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He started his work life as a young man, developing his skills and love for safety with each job that he held. Kerry holds a class 1 license and is a tenured heavy equipment operator and trainer. During his career as a long-haul transportation specialist, he started his own concrete company that successfuly ran for 7 years. Kerry has been married for 14 years and has 5 children, 1 step child, 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Kerry was involved in safety throughout his employment and in 2014 he wrote his NCSO exam through ACSA and became a safety professional. Since then, Kerry has gained education in transportation safety through AMTA, as well as Train the Trainer in Dangerous Goods, WHMIS, and Flagger. Kerry is also an instructor under ABCS training courses. Kerry is a trained coach, mentor, conflict resolution, leadership training, drug and alcohol awareness, claims management, H2S awareness, Drive4Safety, and Workplace violence, harassment and bullying. He is a certified auditor with ACSA and has obtained COR, SECOR, and TLCs for many companies throughout his career.
About Sheryl MacDonald
Sheryl is Kerry Huttons right-hand person. Sheryl mentored under Kerry in 2022 as a Health and Safety Administrator. Sheryl moved to Alberta in 2015 from Nova Scotia where she practiced as a certified Nursing Assistant for 8 years.
After moving to Alberta Sheryl was employed with Labatt Brewing as a production worker and climbed her way up to a safety champion leadership role through her Union and JHSC. Sheryl left Labatt Brewing to further her career in Safety and has since obtained her National Health and Safety administrator designation through ACSA.
She has just completed the CCOHS course through the University of Fredericton and is currently studying to write the CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) exam. The extensive safety training and experience that Sheryl has is in the manufacturing, health care, food processing, construction and transportation industries.
Background on Sheryl
Throughout her nursing and safety careers, Sheryl has taken over 100 health and safety credited courses. Some of them include Train-The-Trainer levels 1-3, First aid, Respirator Fit tester, Confined Space, Working from Heights, CSTS, Mental Health First Aid, Workplace Violence and Harassment, WHMIS, and COR Auditor as well as leadership courses, 3rd Party compliance, WCB Claims Management, Ethics, Contractor Management and Transportation Safety Administration.
Sheryl is also adept in various computer programs, functions and applications such as Excel, Smartsheet, Google Drive applications, SharePoint, Teams, Office, Powerpoint and many others.
Sheryl and Kerry make a dynamic team who are excited to create a robust safety management system in small to medium size businesses thoughout Alberta.
